CISPEE 2018 – 3rd International Conference of the Portuguese Society for Engineering Education

The SEE group is organizing the 3rd International Conference of the Portuguese Society for Engineering Education (CISPEE 2018), with the motto “Changing Higher Education One Teacher at a Time”. The conference will be held at the University of Aveiro, from 27 to 29 June, 2018.

The presence of high level individualities in the areas of research, development, policy making and governance in Higher Education Institutions, particularly in engineering education, are already confirmed, such as:

Carl Wieman, Stanford University (USA), Nobel Prize Winner 2001, by video-conference, together with Q&A and discussion in real time;

Eduardo Marçal Grilo, former Minister of Education (1995-1999) of Portugal, currently President of the General Council of the University of Aveiro;

Jennifer Case, Head of the Department of Engineering Education, Virginia Tech (USA);

Anette Kolmos, Director, Professor, Aalborg Centre for Problem Based Learning in Engineering Science and Sustainability

Rovani Sigamoney, Assistant Programme Specialist, UNESCO Engineering Initiative (SC/UEI);

Peter Baur, Policy Officer DG-EAC, European Commission

Andrea-Rosalinde Hofer, Policy Analist, OECD-LEED

Dirk Van Damme, Division Head of the Innovation and Measuring Progress (IMEP), OECD;

Georgi Dimitrov, Deputy Head of Unit for Innovation and EIT, Directorate General Education and Culture, European Commission;

Pedro Meda Magalhães, Committee Label EUR-ACE member, European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE);

José Sanchez-Gomez, AIRBUS Operations Spain;

Luís Reis, CCCO of Sonae SGPS and Chairman of Porto Business School.

CISPEE 2018 will provide an innovative flavour and character, providing – together with the conventional sessions of presentations and discussions – a Forum for debate and discussion, exchange of ideas and future ideation in engineering education, giving voice to all the relevant stakeholders. Some key points follow:

– the deadline for submission of full papers is approaching (February 9th): please check the instructions on http://see.web.ua.pt/cispee2018/index.php/submission/

– papers are entitled (after approval by the Scientific Committee) to be included in the proceedings of the Conference, supported and indexed by IEEE Xplore Digital Library

– if preferred, you can submit a one page abstract only, being also entitled to participate and present your work (please note that one page abstracts are not entitled to be included in the proceedings of the Conference)

– in case you are interested in attend to the sessions and round-table debates during the Conference, personally interacting with the high-profile invited participants and speakers, this is also possible and you are mostly welcomed!

Engineering Education Forum 2016

EEF2016 – Past, Present and Future

The Engineering Education Forum (EEF2016) intends to be a place for the discussion and debate of “Engineering Education”. It will focus on past, present and future trends, with the objective of increasing the awareness of the stakeholders for this thematic and promoting the integration between Students, Teachers, Industry and Society. With a special focus on Students, this event will gather and connect all the main actors, so that not only the Education of Engineering itself can be discussed, but mostly its impact over the several levels of society that the students will one day find and interact with. It will be an assessment experience, but it will also be an event to pave new routes and discuss solutions. It will gather data, analyse it, program the steps for a better engineering training and start to work on its implementation. Sessions will be organized over a round-table format, with reference personalities of all involved fields and most relevant institutions. This event will be only the beginning of a path towards a true impact on society and on the way we teach engineering.
